The Indonesian Navy Searched Three Warehouses Storing 104 Tons of Tin in Sungailiat, Babel, Estimated Worth IDR 31.2 Billion
JAKARTA - Indonesian Navy personnel have searched a warehouse used to store illegal tin in Bangka Belitung.
The Indonesian Navy Information Service explained that this operation was carried out by the Halilintar Task Force in the Sungailiat area, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands (Babel) on Sunday, November 23.
"This operation is part of the Indonesian Navy's effort to ensure that all processing and trading activities in strategic commodities comply with regulations and prevent violations that could harm the state," said the Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service (Kadispenal), Rear Admiral Tunggul, when confirmed in Jakarta on Monday, as reported by Antara.
Tunggul explained that task force personnel inspected three warehouses belonging to an individual with the initials A, the owner of PT Panca Mega Persada.
In the first warehouse, personnel found 44 tons of tin sand, 20 tons of tin blocks ready for export, and 15 tons of rough tin blocks, totaling 79 tons.
In the second warehouse, Tunggul continued, personnel found 10 tons of rough tin blocks, 4 tons of export-ready tin blocks, and 3 tons of tin slag, totaling 17 tons.
Meanwhile, in the third warehouse, they seized 4 tons of rough tin blocks and four tons of pot-shaped tin suspected to be tin, totaling 8 tons.
"Of the total finds at these three locations, an estimated 104 tons of tin were found, with a value of approximately IDR 31.2 billion," Tunggul explained.
Furthermore, Indonesian Navy personnel from the task force also inspected a smelter suspected of belonging to an individual with the initials D in the Sungailiat area.
"At the location, we found approximately 500 sacks of tin sand, each weighing an average of 50 kg, and two sacks of unfinished tin ingots weighing 75 kg. The total haul is estimated at 30 tons, with a value of approximately IDR 9 billion," he explained.
Tunggul continued, saying that this raid reaffirms the Indonesian Navy's commitment to supporting the government in eradicating illegal mining practices.
His forces will continue to consistently conduct security operations to ensure that all of Indonesia's natural resources are managed legally by the appropriate parties.
