After Draw, Persebaya Officially Breaks Coach Eduardo Perez's Contract
JAKARTA - A 1-1 draw after Arema FC's meeting led to a bitter end for Persebaya Surabaya coach, Eduardo Perez. On Saturday, November 22, 2925, WIB night, Bajul Ijo terminated his contract after the captain had only coached the troops for six months.
The club management's decision to end the collaboration with the coach was taken after conducting an internal evaluation related to performance so far. This was conveyed in an official statement uploaded through social media.
"Regarding the replacement coach, Persebaya has reached a long-term agreement. However, Persebaya will be professionally waiting for all legality matters to be completed," wrote the club's official Instagram account @officialpersebaya quoted Monday, November 24, 2025.

The club also expressed their gratitude for Edu's contribution, his nickname, while handling the Bajul Ijo squad.
The final decision to terminate the contract with the coach emerged after a series of results that were deemed unstable.
In the last match, Persebaya drew 1-1 against Arema FC at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT), Saturday, November 22, 2025, Sore WIB.
Meanwhile, Persebaya captain Bruno Moreira in a post on his personal Instagram Story thanked Edu profusely for Edu's dedication while at the club.
"Thank you to everyone, coach Edu! The highest respect for a coach and personal like you. Good luck you are always successful," wrote the account @brunomieira99.
Eduardo Perez Moran was born in Madrid, Spain, on December 2, 1976. He is a license holder for Pro UEFA and is known to implement a ball possession-based style and high pressing intensity.
Before handling Persebaya, coach Edu had training experience in Indonesia, including as goalkeeping coach for the U-23 Indonesian national team during the Luis Milla era in 2017-2018.
He was also an assistant coach of Persija Jakarta and had led PSS Sleman in early 2020.
In addition to experience in Indonesia, Perez has also worked at a club from Spain, CP Villarrobledo, both as head coach and junior team coordinator.
