Most Vulnerable Children, Sexual Violence Dominates Cases In Jakarta Throughout 2025

JAKARTA - The trend of violence against women and children in Jakarta this year has increased compared to 2024. This finding was conveyed by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control Agency (PPAPP) Iin Mutmainnah.

Based on records, cases of violence against women and children handled by the PPAPP Office for the period January to November 2025 were 1,917 cases. This figure is almost equivalent to cases throughout 2024 with a total of 2,041 cases.

"If the trend increases every year, the trend increases from the amount of data last year with this year, it can be seen that this month alone has almost matched at the end of last year in 2024. So, the trend has indeed increased," Iin told reporters, Monday, November 24.

Based on population identity, the most victims of violence for the January-November 2025 period came from the East Jakarta Administrative City, with a total of 513 victims or covering 25.5% of the total data.

The second position is occupied by South Jakarta with 337 victims (16.8 percent), followed by West Jakarta with 316 victims (15.7 percent), and North Jakarta with 303 victims (15.1 percent). Meanwhile, Central Jakarta recorded 223 victims (11.1 percent). The Thousand Islands region recorded the lowest number with 16 victims.

Judging from the type of case, children and women are the most vulnerable groups to violence. Sexual violence in children is the highest case with 588 cases (21.9 percent). The second most cases are domestic violence (KDRT) against women as many as 412 cases (15.4 percent).

"From the composition of women and children, the upward trend is indeed higher for children. The composition is 53 percent of the total number of cases, girls and boys under the age of 18 years," said Iin.

Furthermore, Iin revealed that the DKI Provincial Government currently has a complaint channel for violence against women and children. Victims can visit UPT PPA as well as 44 complaint post points in each sub-district or RPTRA that has counselors and legals to serve complaints.

"So we follow up, this is basically a complaint. If the victim doesn't complain, no one complains about this, we can't handle it, because basically it is a complaint that we make notes or data," he explained.
