Government Updates Bullying Prevention Rules, Valid 2026

JAKARTA - The government continues to strengthen efforts to prevent bullying in the educational environment. The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu'ti, ensures that an update of the regulation on the prevention of violence is being prepared, including a review of the current ministries in effect.

"This is just the first step to collect input from the public to perfect the regulation. Our target is that by the end of 2025 it will be completed, and can be applied in the first semester of 2026," said Mu'ti in her statement, Sunday, November 23.

In addition to updating regulations, the government has also prepared a circular with five ministries to strengthen the development of a safe and comfortable school environment.

The Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Arifatul Choiri Fauzi emphasized that the responsibility for preventing bullying is not only for schools or the Ministry of Education and Culture.

"The most core character is formed in the family. Therefore, parents cannot completely blame the school," said Arifatul.
