No Impeachment! Kiai Agrees, Gus Yahya Continues To Lead PBNU To The Congress
JAKARTA - Katib Aam Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) Ahmad Said Asrori stated that the kiai had agreed that there would be no impeachment of PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya) in the clerical gathering which was held at the PBNU Building, Jakarta, Sunday, November 23 night.
"We, the kiai, have agreed that the PBNU management must be completed in one period, the congress is approximately one year away. All of them have no impeachment, no resignations, we agree so. All 100 percent of this," said Ahmad Said, quoted by Antara.
Dalam silaturahim ulama tersebut, setidaknya 50 kiai juga mengusulkan agar ada pertemuan yang lebih besar di antara para alim ulama untuk membahas polemik yang ada dalam PBNU.
"Everyone proposes that there be greater friendship among the pious, kiai in the context of islahul (improvement)," he said.
Then, the scholars who attended also invited the entire community to do tafakur or contemplation for the common good.
"Let's work together, work together (against lust), always ask for help for the good of all of us. That is the main thing. So once again, there is no resignation and there is no coercion of resignation," he explained.
Katib Aam also emphasized that all levels of PBNU management would not be replaced until the next NU Congress.
"If there is a change, the highest and most honorable assembly is the NU Congress, and it is regulated in the Articles of Association/Household Budget (AD/ART)," he said.
Meanwhile, PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf or Gus Yahya emphasized that he had no intention of resigning from his position amid the emergence of internal dynamics of the organization.
"The mandate period that I received from the 34th Congress is valid for five years and will be carried out in full," said Gus Yahya in front of the media crew, after holding a coordination meeting with a number of Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Leaders (PWNU) in Surabaya, East Java, early Sunday morning.
Gus Yahya also clarified that until now he had not received an official letter in any form related to internal issues circulating, including documents circulating in public regarding the minutes of Syuriyah's daily meeting on Thursday (20/11) asking her to resign from her position.
