At The G20 Summit, Vice President Gibran Promotes QRIS As A Simple Payment Solution
JAKARTA - Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka is promoting Indonesia's digital payment system, QRIS, as a simple payment solution in front of world leaders who are present at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, Saturday, November 22.
In his inaugural speech, Vice President Gibran stated that Indonesia encourages financial inclusion, including the presence of QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard) which encourages public participation in the economy.
"Our national digital payment system, QRIS, shows how simple and low-cost digital solutions can encourage participation in the economy and minimize inequality," said the Vice President, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 24.
In the first session of the G20 Summit, world leaders focused on discussing sustainable economic issues, the role of trade and finance in development, as well as debt problems in developing countries.
Related to this, the Vice President said that Indonesia welcomes the G20's focus on sustainable finance, but its ambition must be further to close the gap and seek fair and equitable adaptation, mitigation, and transition.
According to Gibran, the world needs more accessible, predictable, and equivalent financing, especially for developing countries, through debt relief, innovative financing, mixed financing, and a green transition mechanism.

The vice president also highlighted developing technologies, such as crypto assets, digital tokens, including Bitcoin, which can create opportunities as well as risks.
"Therefore, Indonesia proposes that the G20 start a dialogue on economic intelligence," said Gibran.
