Men's Doubles Raymond Indra / Nikolaus Joaquin Wins Australian Open 2025 Badminton

JAKARTA - Indonesian pair Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin won the Australian Open 2025 men's doubles title, after defeating Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in the final match at Quaycentre, Sydney, Sunday.

Raymond/Nikolaus beat the senior with a win 22-20, 10-21, 21-18.

In the first game, the Raymond/Nikolaus pair had a bit of difficulty comparable Fajar/Fikri's abilities. Fajar/Fikri then held the 11-8 advantage at the interval.

After that, the advantage remains the property of Fajar/Fikri, but Raymon/Nikolaus are able to put up a tight fight, so that the difference in the score between the two pairs is never too far apart.

Raymond/Nikolaus even took the lead at 15-14, but Fajar/Fikri could immediately equalize and regain control of the game.

The Raymond/Nikolaus pair are back in pursuit and turn to lead at 18-17. Fajar/Fikri did not remain silent and immediately chased, but they had to admit the superiority of the two juniors who locked the first game with a 22-20 advantage.

Fajar/Fikri then tried to appear more aggressive in the second game. They returned to the lead in the 11-8 interval.

After the interval, Fajar/Fikri further widened their distance with Raymond/Nikolaus, before winning the game with a score of 21-10. A draw made the third game have to be played.

The third game was tight from the start. Raymond/Nikolaus had a 5-3 lead, before Fajar/Fikri equalized to 5-5.

The tight match was again shown by the two Indonesian couples. The position was a 10-10 draw, and Raymond/Nikolaus then won 11-10.

Raymond/Nikolaus succeeded in adding points after winning a long rally duel, and staying away from his seniors with a 16-11 advantage. Fajar/Fikri still had time to put up a fierce fight, before Raymond/Nikolaus locked the third set of wins with 21-18 points.
