Getafe Vs Atletico Madrid: Los Colchoneros Wants To Improve Performance

JAKARTA - Atletico Madrid will try to continue their positive trend of becoming five consecutive wins in La Liga while visiting Getafe headquarters at the Estadio Coliseum, Sunday night, November 23 local time.

Diego Simeone's squad is now in fourth place in the La Liga standings, six points adrift of Real Madrid leaders. On the other hand, Getafe is in eighth place with 17 points from the first 12 matches of the 2025/2026 season.

Getafe recorded five wins, two draws, and five defeats from 12 matches earlier this season. Jose Bordalas' team ended the international break with a narrow 0-1 loss to Mallorca, but before that they showed a positive performance with three wins in four matches in all competitions, including a win over Athletic Bilbao and Girona.

Last season Getafe finished 13th in La Liga, but with the current quality of the squad, they are predicted to be able to compete in the upper middle board.

Getafe's confidence momentum also increased after they shocked Atletico in the last meeting in March with a 2-1 win. It was their first win over Los Rojiblancos since 2011. Now they are eyeing two consecutive home wins against Atletico for the first time since 2010.

Meanwhile, Atletico closed the international break with positive results after winning 3-1 over Levante. The victory made them collect 25 points from 12 matches resulting from seven wins, four draws, and one defeat.

Los Colchoneros are also in good form with four consecutive league wins against Osasuna, Real Betis, Sevilla, and Levante. In the Champions League, they just beat Union SG even though they had previously fallen from Liverpool and Arsenal.

However, Atletico's main problem this season is away performance. Of La Liga's five away games, they have only won one win. On the other hand, Getafe has only lost once at home this season.

Getafe certainly cannot be strengthened by Davinchi and Yvan Neyou who suffered injuries. No significant surprises were predicted in the line-up, with Borja Mayoral and Adrian Liso remaining mainstays on the front lines, as well as Mario Martin as attacking midfielders.

Mayoral made a sharp appearance this season with six goals, while Martin and Liso each scored three goals.

In Atletico's camp, Robin Le Normand was absent due to a knee injury. While Giuliano Simeone and Jan Oblak still have doubts about appearing. If Oblak is not fit, Juan Musso has the opportunity to appear as a starter and record his first appearance this season.

Julian Alvarez has been the most prominent player for Atletico this season with nine goals and four assists from 15 matches in all competitions.

Matches after the international break are often unpredictable. Even though Atletico is in a positive trend, Getafe has the power to bring problems to the visitors. With a solid home performance, Getafe has the potential to make Atletico lose points and the game is predicted to end in a draw.
