Nothing OS 4.0 Officially Released: Look Fresher, Smarter, And Stableer Thanks To Android 16
JAKARTA - Nothing has finally started rolling out Nothing OS 4.0, a major update built on Android 16 and brought overall changes to the display, features, and AI capabilities on the Nothing Phone device.
This update is one of the biggest visual updates the company has ever provided, as well as presenting a variety of new tools that focus on productivity, personalization and system efficiency.
This update has been felt immediately since the main screen. Nothing OS 4.0 introduces a built-in application icon that is redesigned in a cleaner and minimalist style. The bar status icon for Wi-Fi, battery, and data connection also gets a new look that is now more consistent and easy to read.

Lock screen receives a refresher in the form of a new font and two additional clock models that provide wider personalization options for users. Nothing also performs reshuffles on the animation of the system "starting from the gesture, screen transition, to the Notification Shade" so that the experience of using the device feels faster and more stable. The phone now also provides light vibrations when the user reaches the maximum or minimum volume limit.
The side of the feature is no less interesting. Nothing OS 4.0 brings a major improvement to Glyph Progress, which now supports tracking progress for transport, delivery and timer services. Because it is based on Android 16, Glyph Progress is no longer limited to certain partners and can be used more applications.
Pop-up View is smoothed with the ability to run two floating applications at once, complete with more intuitive gestures to move between apps. Extra Dark Mode is also enhanced with a more concentrated black color, better contrast, and more efficient power consumption in low light conditions.
Users can now hide apps directly from the App Drawer without having to move them to Private Space. Widgets also get special attention: weather widgets, pedometers, and screen times are now available in new sizes 1times1 and 2times1.
Nothing also brings System and Apps Dashboard, a new panel featuring any app running in the background and offers a one-touch button to optimize device performance. Universal Search is also upgraded with filter capabilities to speed up search.
One of the most unique features on Nothing OS 4.0 is the Playground, a creative space that allows users to create custom widgets just by chatting using AI, without the need for coding capabilities. To make it easier to organize, Nothing introduces a special wedge drawer place that stores all user widgets to make them neater and more accessible.
AI transparency is also an important focus of this update. Nothing adds AI Status Hints which displays a sign on the bar's status when the LLM system is active. In addition, AI Usage Dashboard provides a complete picture of how AI features are used across devices.
Nothing OS 4.0 brings a new face and a more mature approach to AI integration, personalization, and efficiency, making it one of the most comprehensive updates ever released by Nothing. This update is rolled out in stages to a compatible Nothing Phone device
