DPR RI Asks President Prabowo To Be Careful In Sending Peace Troops To Gaza

JAKARTA Member of Commission I DPR RI, By Soleh, asked President Prabowo Subianto to be careful in carrying out the mission of sending 20,000 peacekeepers to Gaza, Palestine. Because according to him, the political situation in the Middle East region is still very unfavorable and has the potential to pose a big risk to Indonesia.

He also asked President Prabowo to consider aspects of geopolitical, humanitarian, and national security before deciding to send troops.

"The president must be really careful. We all want peace, but don't let the steps taken actually create new complexities or are used by other parties for their benefit," said Soleh to reporters, Saturday, November 22.

The member of the commission in charge of defense and abroad also highlighted Israel's statement which previously indicated that it would "choose" which country could join the International Stabilization Force (ISF). Soleh assessed that this actually shows the potential for unilateral intervention from the colonial state.

As a colonial state, Israel should not interfere let alone determine which country can join the ISF. This is very odd. In fact, so far Israel has been the cause of problems in Gaza. It was strange when the colonial state was involved in the peacekeeping force," said Soleh.

According to him, Israel could take advantage of the formation of the ISF for its political and military interests, including to suppress or even suppress insurgent groups in Gaza.

There is great concern that ISF forces will later be used as instruments to suppress Gaza fighters. Hamas and the Palestinian resistance group themselves have clearly rejected the presence of foreign troops in the region, "said the PKB politician.

"So, the peacekeepers are in a vulnerable condition and have the potential to confront Palestinian fighters. If that happens, then it is not peace that is created, but a new conflict in Gaza," he continued.

Therefore, Soleh emphasized that Indonesia's commitment to international peace must continue to prioritize the principles of sovereignty and humanity.

"Sarta is firm towards all forms of colonialism," he concluded.

It is known, President Prabowo Subianto said that Indonesia is ready to send tens of thousands of peacekeepers to Gaza as part of the UN mandate, as well as support the peace agreement passed at the Sharm el-Sheikh Summit.

Even so, the Head of the Defense Information Bureau (Infohan) of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defense (Setjen Kemhan), Colonel TNI Arm Rico Ricardo Sirait, said that sending troops for peace missions to Gaza was still waiting for instructions from President Prabowo.

"However, all decisions remain in the direction of the President," he said when confirmed.

While waiting for Prabowo's decision, according to Rico, the government is now focusing on internal preparation in the Ministry of Defense and the TNI. The TNI has prepared health, construction and logistics strengths, while waiting for the final mandate of the UN DK.
