Russia Sindir Ukrainian Corruption Scandal: Only Blind People Don't Realize It

JAKARTA - Russian Ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Vassily Nebenzia said Moscow was not surprised by the corruption scandals that have occurred in Ukraine.

"For us, this is not surprising," Nebenzia said at a UN Security Council meeting reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Friday, November 21.

He reminded that at almost every meeting, Russia emphasized that Western countries are dealing with the corrupt regime in Kyiv and taking their money to take advantage of the war.

"It's so obvious that only blind people don't notice it," he added.

Nebenzia also considered that the real scale of the corruption scandal was not yet known and the allegations that were currently emerging were only a small part of the bigger problem.

On November 10, the Ukrainian National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) said it was carrying out a large-scale special operation in the energy sector and releasing images showing piles of foreign money in a number of pockets.

Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said NABU investigators had searched the homes of former Energy Minister German Galushchenko and the operator office of the Energoatom nuclear power plant.

Ukrainska Pravda media reported that NABU also searched the homes of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Timur Mindich. According to Zheleznyak, Mindich had left Ukraine before the search was carried out.

Not long after, NABU released a recording of a conversation between Mindich, former head of the Energoatom security department Dmytro Basov, and Galushchenko's adviser, Ihor Myroniuk.

On November 13, Zelenskyy imposed sanctions on Mindich and its main financier, influential entrepreneur Oleksandr Tsukerman.
