UFC And IBM Launch In-Fight Insights, Present AI-Based Real-Time Analytics
JAKARTA - IBM and the UFC, the world's leading Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization, announced the next phase of their technological evolution with the launch of In-Fight Insight.
In-Fight Insight is an artificial intelligence (AI)-based platform that monitors and reports in real-time on milestones, streaks and other important records that occurred during the UFC fight.
This technological solution utilizes more than 13.2 million UFC data points from 20+ fighting year and more than 2,400 UFC athletes and former athletes, in order to improve the viewing experience for hardcore and casual fans.
In addition to being a real-time pre-and-post-fight app, this application designed with IBM watsonx is able to identify and trigger key fighting moments, such as total record-breaking attacks, successive strikes, and other important achievements live.
"UFC Insights Engine built with IBM watsonx is a complex AI package to explore new real-time insights for fans in seconds," said Alon Cohen, Executive Vice President of Innovation for TKO.
While Pre-Fight Insights will continue to provide analysis moments before the fight begins, In-Fight Insights will give broadcasters a direct contextual understanding to share with fans.

"This is proof of UFC's commitment to always innovate outside the octagon, to capture the potential of storytelling and human elements of the action that occurs in the fight cage," concluded Jonathan Adashek, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Communications, IBM.
Since announcing their partnership in November 2024, the UFC and IBM have worked together to build the UFC Insights Engine foundation, incorporating and analyzing data on organizational fighting library to create a more personal and data-based fan experience.
The addition of In-Fight Insights is part of a broader effort to scale Insights Engine on all UFC platforms, including live broadcasts, pre-event programs, social media channels, and on-site activation.
