Called Terrible, European Commission Urges X To Improve Grok's Response

JAKARTA - The European Union (EU), through the European Commission, said it had contacted platform X regarding hate speech content generated by the Artificial Intelligence chatbot (AI), Grok.

The Commission describes this malicious content as 'terrible' and contrary to the human rights values in Europe. However, it did not explain what kind of hate speech Grok had made.

Spokesperson for the European Commission, Thomas Regnier, stated that they were trying to establish communication with X. According to Regnier, X must take action against Grok's harmful content because the chatbot is integrated in it.

"Grok's work is very bad. Such work is against European fundamental rights and values," Regnier said.

Controversy over Grok content is nothing new for platform X. In July 2025, Grok gave an answer that sparked the counter, but in the end Grok's response was removed by the platform.

Grok made a post containing an antisemite metaphor and praise for Adolf Hitler. This post also received complaints from many X users, including from the Anti-Penmarin League.

When the incident occurred, xAI said that it had taken firm steps. xAI claims to have implemented action to ban hate speech content before being published by Grok on platform X.
