Don't Stop In 2 Cases, DPR Urges Police To Brush All Illegal Loans

JAKARTA Member of Commission III of the DPR RI Abdullah, asked the police to investigate all cases of illegal online loans (pinjol) that claimed a lot of victims, in addition to the two loan applications that were successfully dismantled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

The reason is, Abdullah said, the perpetrators of illegal lending continued to carry out terror and intimidation of the victims, even though their loans had been repaid.

"The practice of illegal borrowing is very disturbing to the public," Abdullah said, Friday, November 21.

Even so, Abdullah still appreciates Bareskrim Polri for its success in dismantling the cases of two illegal online loan applications (pinjol) that have ensnared up to 400 customers in various regions.

He considered that the disclosure of this case showed the seriousness of the National Police in eradicating illegal lending practices that had been troubling the public. According to him, Bareskrim's firm action is a positive step that must continue to be strengthened.

"I appreciate the quick and decisive steps taken by Bareskrim Polri for dismantling the two illegal loan applications. Many people have become victims, and even continue to be terrorized despite paying off loans. This is a form of crime that should not be allowed," said the PKB legislator from the Central Java electoral district.

Abdullah also urged the National Police not to stop at the two cases alone, but to continue to investigate and eradicate other illegal lending networks, the number of which is still operating massively.

Abdullah emphasized that the settlement of illegal borrowing cases must be carried out thoroughly in order to provide a deterrent effect to the perpetrators.

The National Police must thoroughly investigate other networks. There are still many illegal loans that make the community miserable. We should not give the slightest space for practices like this," he said again.

Furthermore, Abdullah also asked the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police to increase coordination and cooperation with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the government to strengthen supervision and action against illegal lending platforms that continue to emerge.

"Collaboration between the Police, OJK, and the government is very important to ensure that the online loan ecosystem runs healthy and safe for the community. We must suppress all illegal lending practices to their roots," Abdullah said.

Abdullah emphasized that Commission III of the DPR is committed to continuing to oversee budget policies and support for law enforcement officials to be able to protect the public from digital crimes.

"Including illegal online loans that are increasingly growing," he concluded.
