Changan Promises His Car To Be Immediately Built Locally In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Changan Automobile officially entered Indonesia through collaboration with the Indomobil Group. The Chinese manufacturer also emphasized that it would immediately assemble its vehicle locally in the country.

This is different from many other Chinese manufacturers, which initially still made complete imports, aka CBU (completely built up). This was confirmed by Indomobil Group Director Andrew Nasuri.

Changan itself will immediately launch two cars at once at this time, namely Changan Deepal 07 and Lumin EV. Andrew also confirmed that both of them had started to be assembled in Indonesia.

"Today we are not just a launch brand, not just a showing brand and car, but actually we have started assembling vehicles (in Indonesia)," Andrew said at the launch of the Changan brand, Wednesday, November 19.

"So the CKD has started, then the two vehicles that will be launched at GJAW 2025 have been produced in Indonesia and are in the TKDN process. So in the future, this will be certified," he added.

Changan's partnership with Indomobil Group has actually been established since the beginning of this year. However, their decision immediately assembled local vehicles in Indonesia, resulting in the launch time having to withdraw to November 2025.

"So, we don't use incentives for CBU. We go directly or direct to CKD and meet the government's (submitted) criteria," he explained.

As is known, Indomobil Group itself houses several car brands in Indonesia. They have manufacturing in the Purwakarta area, West Java which is also used to assemble Citroen cars.
