1,129 Warga Serang Banten Terdampak Banjir Luapan Sungai Cikalapang

SERANG - A total of 1,129 people in Citasuk Village, Serang Regency, Banten were affected by flooding due to the overflowing of the Cikalapang river after heavy rains flushed the area since Thursday, November 20.

The Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Serang Regency, Ajat Sudrajat, said the river overflow flood submerged settlements in Sukamaju Village, Citasuk Village, Padarincang District, which includes four neighborhood units (RT).

"Based on data collection until Friday morning, the flood had an impact on 295 families (KK) with a total of 1,129 people spread across RT 24, 25, 26, and 27," said Ajat, quoted by Antara, Friday, November 21.

Ajat detailed that among the thousands of affected residents, there were vulnerable groups consisting of 60 toddlers and 41 elderly. In addition to residential areas, public facilities, such as madrasas and mosques, were also affected by inundation.

Even though the water had entered the house, Ajat ensured that the current conditions were gradually conducive. The water level (TMA) inside the residents' houses was reported to have receded, while inundation on the environmental roads remained about 5 to 10 centimeters.

"Currently, residents have started to return to their normal activities and still occupy their respective homes and there are no casualties," he said.

However, BPBD noted that there were still urgent needs for affected residents after the flood, including ready-to-eat food, blankets, toddler needs, and mattresses or sleeping mats.

His party continues to coordinate with villages and sub-districts to monitor the situation and ensure distribution of aid if needed.
