Having Signed a Contract, Boris Bokir Doesn't Know the Story of "Agak Laen: Menyala Pantiku"

JAKARTA - Boris Bokir admitted he didn't know the story of the film "Agak Laen: Menyala Pantiku," despite having signed a contract. Directed by Muhadkly Acho, the latest "Agak Laen" is not a sequel to the first.

"After mapping out the story, everyone has finished their respective roles (in the first film). Boris has also been involved in this, so rather than being chased by journalists, it's better to make a film," said director Muhadkly Acho at a press conference in South Jakarta on Thursday, November 20.

"I executed what the director wrote, but when I read it, it sounded similar? So be it," said Boris Bokir.

In "Agak Laen: Menyala Pantiku," the quartet of Boris, Bene, Oki, and Jegel experience various conflicts when they are assigned to investigate the murder of the mayor's son.

"This is the first time I've signed a film contract without knowing the synopsis and what roles they'll play," Boris added.

On the other hand, Indra Jegel also believes Acho, as director and screenwriter, can blend comedy and drama in his second film.

"That was my reaction when I read the script. We know Acho is the best at pulling comedy as far as possible, so when we read the script, we already knew what the scene would be," said Indra Jegel.

"We didn't think too much about it, the important thing was that every joke had context. As long as it didn't stray from the context, it walked that corridor. If you say it's bordering on a cliff, that's a free perception, but if you look at it as a whole, there's context," explained Acho about the comedy in this film.

The film also stars Priska Barusegu, Boah Sartika, Tissa Biani, Jajang C. Noer, Chew Kin Wah, Jarwo Kwat, Egi Fedly, and many others.

The film Agak Laen: Menyala Pantiku will be released in Indonesian theaters starting November 27, 2025.
