Victims Of TIP From Aceh In Myanmar Return To Indonesia

BANDA ACEH - One of the victims of a criminal act of trafficking in persons (TPPO) from North Aceh Muhammad Isa (53) was rescued and returned to his homeland after previously being evacuated at the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar.

"Alhamdulillah, today Muhammad Isa has returned to Aceh and can gather with his family. I thank the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon," said a member of the DPD from Aceh, Sudirman Haji Uma, in Banda Aceh, Thursday, November 20, as reported by ANTARA.

Haji Uma said that during the last three months he had been intensely coordinating with the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon regarding the rescue of victims of TIP from Indonesia who were sold to Myanmar.

These efforts finally paid off, and the victim from Aceh named Muhammad Isa, a resident of Matang Kuli, Parang IX, North Aceh, was repatriated.

Haji Uma explained, based on information received from the Coordinator of the Protocol and Consular Function of the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon, Wahono, the current situation in Myanmar is very difficult, so the evacuation process faces many obstacles.

"Conditions in Myanmar are in turmoil due to war. That is why it is very difficult for the Indonesian Embassy to enter certain areas," he said.

Haji Uma explained that Muhammad Isa previously departed from Aceh for North Sumatra's Kualanamu airport with a friend heading for Thailand. However, upon arrival in Kualanamu, his colleague was detained, so Isa continued his own journey.

Arriving in Thailand, he lived adrift for 15 days without direction and without support. In that condition, he met an agent from Burma who then took him to Myanmar.

In Myanmar, Isa worked at a wooden refinery for a year and a half. He lives in threat due to the condition of a war-torn country and unable to communicate with his family in Aceh.

Isa, continued Haji Uma, then communicated with him, and asked to be sent home. Before his return, he was accommodated at the Indonesian Embassy in Myanmar for one month and a half for the evacuation administration process.

Haji Uma expressed his gratitude and gratitude to all parties, including the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon who had assisted in the repatriation process for the Acehnese.

"I thank the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon for helping, so that the repatriation process runs smoothly. We hope that the other six people who have been reported can be handled immediately," said Haji Uma.
