At The Palace, Minister Of Agriculture Amran Said RI Will Build A Livestock Feed Factory Suctioning A Budget Of IDR 20 Trillion
JAKARTA - The government will build livestock feed factories to strengthen the national livestock sector to reduce production costs and maintain price stability with a total budget of IDR 20 trillion.
Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) and Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Andi Amran Sulaiman revealed that this strategic step aims to protect 3.7 million people's breeders throughout Indonesia.
"We want to build a feed factory, we want to produce DOC (day old story) for the people so that the feed price, the price of vaccines will be stable, stable medicines for farmers throughout Indonesia," Amran said after holding a limited meeting (ratas) with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, confiscated by Antara.
This program will start by building 12 feed factories in various regions. Furthermore, 18 factory points will be added for the second phase.
Amran said the construction of this feed factory would receive a budget of IDR 20 trillion.
"So this was built for small breeders, to support small breeders," he explained.
With the construction of this feed factory, the government ensures that prices at the farmer level remain profitable, while prices at the consumer level remain stable and affordable.
Previously, Amran said that the livestock ecosystem mechanism would be carried out with comprehensive integration ranging from feed factories, DOC, vaccines, to product processing which all involved BUMN and local breeders.
Small farmers will buy feed and seeds at reasonable prices, while SOEs act as off takers that absorb production results, similar to Bulog's role in the rice sector.
With this pattern, the government hopes that small farmers will no longer lose money because they have market and price certainty, while strengthening the foundation of national food security based on animal protein.
