Tumbang Tumpa Tree Islamic Boarding School In Munjul Serang, Women's Santri Dormitory Damaged
JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Serang Regency, Banten, recorded a number of hydrometeorological disasters ranging from floods to fallen trees that hit the area due to extreme weather.
Head of BPBD Serang Regency, Ajat Sudrajat, said heavy rain accompanied by strong winds triggered disaster events in two different sub-districts, namely Cikeusal and Padarincang.
"In Cikeusal Subdistrict, strong winds caused a fallen tree that hit the Riyadul Hikmah Islamic Boarding School building in Munjul Village, Harnang Village," said Ajat in Serang, Thursday, which was confiscated by Antara.
He explained that the incident that occurred at around 14.00 WIB resulted in the roof of three rooms of the women's santri dormitory experiencing moderate damage.
Although there were no casualties, Ajat said the female students had to be temporarily evacuated to the house of the leader of the Islamic boarding school for safety. The process of evacuating fallen trees has been carried out by local residents together with joint TNI, Polri, and sub-district officers.
In addition to strong winds, Ajat said that the high intensity of rain also caused flooding in Padarincang District.
"The flood inundated residential areas in Sukamaju Village, Citasuk Village, with water level (TMA) ranging from 30 to 50 centimeters," he said.
Responding to the incident, the BPBD of Serang Regency has deployed a Rapid Response Team (TRC) to the flood site to carry out data collection and emergency handling.
BPBD appealed to the people of Serang Regency to increase awareness of potential aftershocks, given the extreme weather conditions that may still occur.
