Spotify Launches New Feature To Spot People Behind Music Making
JAKARTA Spotify introduced a new feature that will highlight contributions from various parties behind the making of music. This ability was launched to appreciate producers, technicians, and songwriters.
The collection of information about the contributors behind the users' favorite music will be featured in a feature called SongDNA. This feature will show in detail how the songs are interconnected and what songs are the inspirations.
Users will be able to see which songs their samples are on a certain track, who covered the song, and others. Data regarding this sample music comes from the WhoSampled database that Spotify has acquired.
The launch of this feature is not surprising because SongDNA references were seen in the application code last October. Apart from SongDNA, Spotify is also planning to launch another feature called About the Song.

This feature can be used to view the details of inspiration and the story behind the music by exploring the sliding card on the Now Playing display. All the information displayed by this feature comes from third parties, including Wikipedia and the news site, which will be linked to the card.
These two features are an improvement because Spotify previously only provided a Song Credit feature containing performance credit, songwriting, and production. This feature is still limited in several devices and regions.
Fortunately, the Song Credit is starting to expand to mobile devices and will be available on desktop in the coming months. Meanwhile, SongDNA and About the Song will launch early next year, but specifically for Premium subscribers.
