Lampung Farmers Third Harvest Season, BPBD Asks For Extreme Rain Mitigation To Prevent Puso
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) appealed to farmers in Lampung to mitigate high rainfall in order to prevent puso or crop failure.
"Currently, most of the agricultural areas in Lampung have entered the planting season three, and the weather conditions are quite extreme with high rainfall intensity," said Lampung Province Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) analyst Wahyu Hidayat when contacted in Bandarlampung, Thursday, confiscated by Antara.
He also appealed to farmer groups to take mitigation steps in dealing with potential hydrometeorological disasters due to high rainfall, one of which is by taking care of rice farming business insurance (AUTP).
"We urge the farmer group to immediately take care of agricultural insurance, as a mitigation in the event of flooding due to high rainfall and making rice fields become puso. Because farmer insurance is very important, to mitigate risks because there will be protection for farmers from losses due to crop failure," he said.

He explained that farmers also need to improve their skills in understanding climate change and weather information through Climate Lapang School activities.
"Now the potential is flooding due to wet dryness, for hot spots in Lampung because this year it is full of rain. So no hotspots were found. Even nationally, the Karhutla Task Force has been disbanded because the hot temperature some time yesterday did not have much effect on forest and land fires," he said.
According to him, with the wet dry conditions that have occurred throughout this year, Lampung as an area that has a large enough agricultural land must continue to anticipate and mitigate the impact of extreme weather on the agricultural sector.
"The strong winds have indeed occurred, therefore the hydrometeorological potential must be anticipated while still paying attention to weather information, taking care of agricultural insurance and regulating waterways on agricultural land," he concluded.
