MRT Service Disrupted Due To Falling Tree, Pramono Targets Normal Back This Afternoon

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung targets all Jakarta MRT services to return to normal operations this afternoon. Since around 10.30 WIB, MRT operations have stopped.

The cause was the incident of a fallen tree on Jalan Sisingamangaraja, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta this morning. The tree hit the roof of the MRT line building and caused a problem with electricity flow.

"The electricity flow above was hit by a tree close to Ratu Plaza. It caused a short circuit and then for the time needed for repairs for approximately 3-4 hours. Hopefully this afternoon it will run normally," said Pramono in Tebet, South Jakarta, Thursday, November 20.

Currently, handling is still being carried out. Pramono revealed that now the MRT has returned to operate services on short routes that do not cross the point of the fallen tree.

"Now this is for the short loop from Pondok Labu (Lebak Bulus) to Blok M, to ASEAN it can be done. Indeed, in the place where the tree was hit, the electricity had not been damaged, and hopefully in the next 3-4 hours it can be done," explained Pramono.

MRT Jakarta service experienced operational disruptions on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at around 10.30 WIB. This made the train journey on the HI-Lebak Bulus Roundabout stop and forced all passengers to evacuate independently to the nearest station.

The disturbance is said to have occurred suddenly when the series was passing. Officers immediately asked all passengers to get off the train and go to the nearest station with the officer's guide in the field. A number of passengers were seen leaving the carriage in turns to ensure the evacuation process took place safely and in an orderly manner.

"PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) apologizes for the inconvenience experienced by customers due to operational disturbances that occurred today," said Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Rendy Primartantyo in his statement.

Rendy said that the disturbance was still under the supervision of the technical team. Efforts to identify the source of the problem have been carried out since the incident so that train travel can return to normal. The company emphasizes that passenger safety is a top priority during the handling process.

"Currently, the Jakarta MRT operational and technical team is handling it to ensure that the service can return to normal as soon as possible. We urge all customers to remain calm and follow the directions of officers in the field," said Rendy.
