Prabowo Targets Power Plants From Garbage Established In 33 Provinces In 2029
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto revealed that President Prabowo Subianto is targeting to establish Waste Power Plants (PLTSa) in 33 provinces by 2029. Later, the construction of this PLTSa will be carried out through the Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara).
"It is targeted by the President in 2029 that the construction of this waste power plant will be entirely in 33 provinces throughout Indonesia," Airlangga said at the Bloomberg Technoz Ecoverse 2025, Thursday, November 20.
Furthermore, Airlangga said that Danantara had committed to building 7 PLTSa in Indonesia in 2026. Some of us prepared include Bogor, Denpasar, Yogyakarta, Semarang, and Bekasi.
According to him, the construction of this PLTSa is very crucial because it can encourage the Indonesian tourism sector. With PLTSa, piles of sampak in several cities can be overcome so as to create a cleaner and more comfortable city for tourists.
"So PLTSA is indeed related to a clean tourism destination ecosystem," said Airlangga.
Previously, the Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), Eniya Listiani Dewi revealed that in the 2025-2034 Electric Power Supply Business Plan (RUPTL), the government plans to flood PLTSa up to 452 MW and spread across several regions.

"So in the RUPTL for the next 10 years, there are 452 megawatts whose potential is spread in Java, Madura, Bali, then Sumatra and Sulawesi. So we have accommodated everything in the RUPTL, only on grids with PLN are not a problem," he said at the 2025 Waste to Energy Investment Forum, Wednesday, November 19.
The time limit for determining the PJBL permit from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will only take 10 days. This is in accordance with Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 109 of 2025 concerning the Handling of Urban Waste Through Waste Processing Into Renewable Energy Based on Environmentally Friendly Technology.
"If the permit is already there, the PJBL will only be 10 days. We will limit it to the Presidential Decree for 10 days," said Eniya.
