After Going Viral And Allegedly Owned, Pramono Meets Sri Deli And Raises Facts

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung clarified the previous statement that the Ragunan Wildlife Park (TMR) pet Sumatran tiger that went viral on social media was his. The tiger went viral from a video showing his physical condition was thin and seemed unwell.

Apparently, after Pramono saw directly at the location, the brown Sumatran tiger with the name Sri Deli was not his.

"It turns out that this is Sri Deli. There are 18 Sumatran tigers here," Pramono said when met at Ragunan Wildlife Park, South Jakarta, Thursday, November 20.

The animal owned by Pramono and entrusted to Ragunan is a white Bengal tiger and is named Raja. Pramono admitted to buying the King since the carnivorous animal was still small. When he began to grow up, Pramono decided to leave the King to Ragunan to become an animal that the community could see.

"So I really want to entrust the day to want it to this place so that it can be enjoyed by the public. I don't charge anything for feed matters, we are responsible. Anyway, I want it to be enjoyed by the public," said Pramono.

Pramono did not want to explain further the reason he bought the Bengal tiger. What is clear, according to Pramono, is that this does not violate the applicable law.

"Banggals that are not protected. So, that's why they can be owned. If (religious) Sumatra is not allowed, if Bengal is allowed," he said.

During the visit, Pramono also wanted to ensure that accusations of the theft of part of Sumatran tiger feed so that it affected his physical condition to be thin were not true. When it was observed, it turned out that a tiger named Sri Deli currently looked healthy with a filled body.

"So what went viral was that it was as if the feed was brought back home was not true. Again, it's not true. For the process of giving this feed, it is closely monitored and someone is specifically responsible for the feed," said Pramono.

So, Pramono assessed that the viral video recording was recently taken during the COVID-19 pandemic. On the one hand, Pramono also admitted that he did not know why the tiger that was kept by the DKI Provincial Government's zoo was thin and looked unwell during the pandemic. Remember, he only served as Governor of DKI Jakarta this year.

"Yes, COVID is 2021-2022, I don't know the truth. But maybe when you are in COVID-19, people also don't dare to leave their activities and maybe the food is too late. But I don't know about what really happened," said Pramono.

Previously, Pramono admitted that the tiger in Ragunan, which went viral because it looked thin, was his animal. Pramono emphasized that he had been directly monitoring the process of feeding the tiger and did not find any problems.

It's a tiger that happens to belong to me personally. So once again, it's my personal tiger. So far, I've been participating in this," said Pramono in North Jakarta, Tuesday, November 18.

Yesterday, Pramono confirmed that he would directly check the condition of the animals in Ragunan in the near future, especially the tigers that were recently discussed by netizens. "So this week I will go there. Maybe the tiger misses me," he said.
