Reasons Director Creates Toy Story 5: Technology Changing Our Lives

JAKARTA - Toy Story 5 film director Andrew Stanton spoke about his latest film which received mixed responses from fans. Not a few are worried that this film will tell more than far from previous films.

The Toy Story franchise begins with the story of Andy, a child who has several toys and creates his imagination without knowing his toys are alive and have his own world. Andy's story continued until he went to college and separated from his toy friends.

"So the third (film) is the end of Andy's year. Nothing feels stolen from that trilogy," Andrew Stanton quoted Empire as saying.

They can watch it and don't watch other movies if they don't want to, but I always like how this world allows us to enjoy time and change. No one can promise this is always on radar," he explained.

Through the teaser trailer, Toy Story 5 features the adventures of Woody, Buzz, and Jessie and a group of toys competing with a child's tablet named Lilypad.

Stanton menjelaskan film ini bakal mengangkat sisi teknologi yang kini medominasi hingga anak-anak ikut menggunakannya.

"Technology has changed everyone's life but we ask what it means for us and our children. We can't just make technology a villain," Stanton explained.

Toy Story 5 comes after six years since the film Toy Story 4, which became the film with the biggest achievement in its franchise. The film also helped bring back the voice actors consisting of Hollywood actors including Tom Hanks and Tim Allen.

The Toy Story 5 film will hit theaters from June 19, 2026.
