Yamaha Jog E Electric Motor Will Launch In Japan, Carrying Modern Battery Swap System

JAKARTA Yamaha is preparing to introduce its newest electric motor, the Jog E, to the Japanese market. This compact electric scooter will premiere on December 22, complete with a battery swap system which is the main selling point.

In an official upload on Instagram @yamaha_bike, Thursday, November 20, Yamaha confirmed that Jog E will only be marketed in the Tokyo and Osaka areas in the early stages. For battery matters, Yamaha cooperates with Gachaco as a exchange service provider. Currently, the battery swap network is available at 42 points in Tokyo, 2 points in Saitama, and 7 points in Osaka.

Yamaha also revealed future development plans. "In the second half of 2026 we plan to sell batteries and regular charging," the company wrote in a statement.

In terms of appearance, Jog E brings a dynamical style combined with a modern classic touch. A firm body line and a square-shaped headlights give a different character than other electric scooters in their class.

For performance, Jog E is equipped with an electric motorcycle powered by 1.7 kW or the equivalent of 2.2 hp with a torque of 90 Nm. In one full charge, this scooter is claimed to be able to cover a distance of up to 53 km with an average speed of 30 km/hour.

Yamaha costs Jog E at a price of 159,500 yen or around Rp. 16.9 million, not including insurance costs and STNK. This electric scooter is expected to be an attractive option for urban mobility in Sakura's homeland.
