River Dredging Dispute, Dedi Mulyadi Makes Peace Between Village Heads in Karawang

KARAWANG - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi reconciled three village heads who were at odds over a river dredging project to address flooding in the East Telukjambe area, Karawang Regency, West Java.

"The three village heads in Karawang have now agreed to jointly resolve the flooding problem in their respective areas," said West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 19.

Three village heads in East Telukjambe District, Karawang: Purwadana E. Heryana, Wadas Jujun Junaedi, and Sukamakmur Dede Sudrajat, were previously at odds over the river dredging project.

The dispute between the three village heads was sparked by one of them being considered a "offset" for carrying out the river dredging project outside his village.

The river dredging project in East Telukjambe District is a program of the West Java Provincial Government involving Perum Jasa Tirta (PJT) II Jatiluhur.

Three village heads in Karawang, who had been at odds, were summoned by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi to discuss issues in their respective areas.

After a meeting with the three village heads in Telukjambe Timur District, Dedi stated that the three village heads had agreed to reconcile. They would no longer cause any trouble, as they were tasked with overseeing the acceleration of the West Karawang Provincial Government's programs.

The Sukamakmur Village Head was tasked with monitoring water flow from the West Karawang Interchange Road and identifying illegal structures within the river basin.

The Wadas Village Head was tasked with demolishing problematic structures and overseeing the cleanup process to ensure a safe and orderly process.

The Purwadana Village Head was tasked with tidying up the water channels outside the area, installing drainage gates, and securing access permits for Resinda.

The Governor emphasized that the primary focus of all these tasks is to reduce the potential for flooding in the area around Telukjambe Timur, Karawang.

The West Java Provincial Government ensures that cross-village coordination will continue to ensure that various spatial planning, drainage, and environmental management issues can be resolved quickly and effectively.

The government also encourages all residents to support the river management process to create a safer, more orderly environment free from the threat of flooding.
