KARANGASEM - Fire hit 11 kiosks in Menanga Market, Winana Village, Rendang District, Karangasem Regency, Bali.
A joint team from the Rendang Police, Fire Department, TNI, and the community managed to completely extinguish the fire in less than two hours.
Rendang Police Chief Kompol I Made Besa directly led the effort to extinguish and evacuate the scene.
The fire that broke out in the middle of the Galungan Day celebration scorched various types of merchandise, including basic necessities, offerings, household furniture, snacks, agricultural tools, and fruits.
"We immediately mobilized personnel to help evacuate the victims' belongings that had not been burned and assist the blackout process," said Kompol I Made Besa, in a written statement, Wednesday, November 19.
Two fire trucks from Klungkung and Karangasem Regencies with seven personnel arrived at the location.
After the fire was successfully extinguished at around 15:10 WITA, officers immediately installed a police line and carried out the crime scene (TKP).
Based on the results of the initial investigation, the fire was allegedly caused by an ornamental fire that forgot to be extinguished by the kiosk owner after completing the Galungan Day prayer. The loss due to this fire is estimated at Rp. 750 million.
"This serves as a reminder for all of us to always be vigilant and ensure the fire ofratings or candles is extinguished after the completion of the prayers, especially in commercial areas such as markets," he said.
