Alert! Samsung Members Application Becomes New Target For Scam Phishing

A new phishing scam is reportedly spreading through the Samsung Members platform. Users of the app received a message claiming that their account needed immediate verification. Although it looks official, the message turned out to be fake. The moderator on the platform warns users not to click on any links originating from external sources.

Samsung Community is a discussion platform for Samsung products and services, which is available through the Samsung Members app on Galaxy phones and tablets. Here, users can ask questions, report problems, share tips, and share news. But now, a number of users are reporting phishing attempts circulating within the app.

Although the Samsung Members platform is overall safe, scammers are now using it to launch fraudulent acts. It was reported that the scammers created fake accounts in Samsung Community and sent phishing messages to users.

In the message, scammers admit that Samsung has received complaints regarding the user's profile and requires account verification. They argued that this step was necessary to prevent problems such as loss of accounts, threats, or other illegal activities.

Users are then directed to click on the link to verify. The link turned out to be dangerous. The message also threatens that if verification is not carried out within 24 hours, the account will be suspended. They even mentioned a possible fine of $500.

The malicious link can open a website that resembles an official login page to steal user credentials. In some cases, the site can ask users to pay fines or install malicious apps. Scammer also has the potential to use personal data to extort.

The moderators and users of Samsung Community are now warning against clicking on any suspicious links. They also encourage users to report messages or accounts that have the potential to scam. Samsung itself has started deleting these scam accounts to maintain community security.
