Passenger Ships Run Aground In Bakauheni Waters Evacuated, Officers Ask For Weather Forecast
Joint officers evacuated the SAgita SMS Passenger Motor Ship (KMP) which ran aground in the waters of Rimau Balak Island, Bakauheni District, South Lampung Regency.
Head of the Bakauheni SAR Post, Rezie Kuswara, said the ship ran aground on the northeast side, near Bakauheni Port on Wednesday, November 19, at around 11.45 WIB.
"Yes, that's right, the team has monitored and evacuated the KMP SMS Sagita ship accident which ran aground in the waters of Rimau Balak Island. Thank God the evacuation process for the ship withdrawal went smoothly," he said in South Lampung, Wednesday, as reported by Antara.
He explained that the ship was pulled by Tugboat from Merak Harbor and directed to Bakauheni Port.
According to him, the chronology of the incident began on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at around 11.15 WIB, the KMP Sagita departing from Merak Harbor to Bakuheni Lampung had entered the flow around the waters of Rimau Balak Island.

After arriving at the area around the port, he said, KMP Sagita experienced problems and lost control of the current due to bad weather, and finally the ship ran aground around Rimau Balak Island.
"Initially the ship sailed normally, suddenly the weather changed badly, strong winds that caused KMP Sagita to be dragged out of the flow and ran aground," he said.
Until now, his party continues to carry out marine patrols and coordinate with ASDP and Bakauheni KSOP to ensure security in the port area.
"I appeal to people who will travel by sea, to remain vigilant regarding changes in weather that often change and waves that are quite high," he said.
He explained that the joint SAR team also continued to provide education and appeals to fishermen to remain careful in their activities in fishing in the sea.
"For fishermen who will look for fish in the middle of the sea, always pay attention to the weather conditions informed by the BMKG, and always be vigilant and if there are emergency things, they should immediately contact Call Center 115 to ask for help," he said.
