Danantara Believes Indonesia's Investment Growth Will Increase In 2026

JAKARTA - Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of the Anagata Nusantara (Dantara) Investment Management Agency, Pandu Patria Sjahrir, expressed his confidence that Indonesia's investment growth in 2026 will increase.

This growth was driven by fundamental changes in the direction of national development, from initially relying on natural resources (SDA) towards strengthening the quality of human resources (HR) and increasing economic productivity.

"I am certainly very optimistic in 2026, because there is a fundamental change in the way this country is changing. From relying on natural resources, people are now focusing on improving human resources. Our task (Dantara) at this level is to invest," said Pandu at the discussion session. Antara Business Forum (ABF) 2025, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 19.

Pandu explained that the focus of Danantara at this time is to improve the performance of portfolios that can have a broad impact on society.

In determining the direction of investment, Danantara applies three main criteria, namely the impact on the national economy, the sustainability of yields, and long-term investment opportunities.

Based on this principle, the company focuses its investment direction on eight strategic sectors that are believed to be able to boost national productivity.

The sector includes minerals, new and renewable energy, digital infrastructure, health, financial services, infrastructure and utilities, industrial and property areas, as well as food and agriculture.

According to Pandu, these sectors will become the foundation for the formation of national and regional-scale companies that have great growth potential.

One of the most prominent projects is the development of waste processing facilities into energy or Waste to Energy (WTE). Of the 33 locations set by the government, Danantara started with eight projects for the first phase.

Pandu emphasized that this project is not just an investment agenda, but a serious effort to solve the problem of the national waste crisis, especially in big cities.

To encourage the role of the private sector, Danantara removed the tipping fee scheme and improved the Business Purchase Agreement formula to make it more attractive to investors. The selection process is also carried out by third parties objectively to ensure transparency.

"There will be 33 places chosen by the Ministry of Environment. The energy is purchased by PLN. This is part of renewable energy at PLN. Of the 69 gigawatts (GW), this is actually only 500 megawatts (MW), so it's not big for PLN. But the effect for the environment is extraordinary, for extraordinary health. So this is part of in a way to serve the nation," he explained.

Furthermore, Pandu said Danantara would continue to prioritize support for government programs while at the same time restoring the trust of global investors. He considered that creating trust both at home and abroad is the key to maintaining the momentum of investment growth.

The 2025 Business Forum or ABF 2025 organized by Perum LKBN Antara (ANTARA) at The Westin Jakarta, Wednesday is a space to discuss policy directions and economic growth strategies towards 2026.

The implementation of ABF 2025 received full support from three strategic SOEs, namely PLN, MIND ID, PT Antam Tbk, and also Bank BJB.
