Bank Mandiri and KAI Group Launch QRIS Tap on Public Transportation

JAKARTA - Bank Mandiri, as a strategic partner of the government, is driving digital acceleration in the transportation sector through the implementation of QRIS Tap In-Tap Out Livin' by Mandiri on the Indonesian Commuter Line (KCI) and the Greater Jakarta LRT (Jabodebek). This synergy demonstrates the company's commitment to providing more efficient and adaptive services to the public, in line with the synergy spirit of advancing the nation by serving wholeheartedly.

Jan Winston Tambunan, Director of Network & Retail Funding at Bank Mandiri, stated that the implementation of QRIS Tap allows users to simply tap their phones at the gate using NFC technology, without the need for top-ups and manual QR scanning. This integration is designed to enhance the public's mobility experience in commuter activity centers, while also increasing the reliability of digital payment systems in public spaces. The QRIS Tap feature is currently available for Android devices with NFC.

"We are promoting QRIS Tap Livin' by Mandiri to provide a faster and more streamlined transaction experience. This innovation supports the digital acceleration we are building with our partners to expand added value for transportation users," Jan said in Jakarta on Wednesday, November 19.

The QRIS Tap feature is now available at all Jabodetabek Commuter Line, Solo-Yogyakarta, and Jabodebek LRT service gates. This implementation not only provides ease of transactions but also strengthens operational efficiency and the integration of technology-based mobility services, which are increasingly relevant for urban communities.

This payment method is an alternative to using a Multi-Trip Card (KMT) for Commuter Line ticket payments. KAI Commuter President Director Asdo Artriviyanto stated that KAI Commuter will continue to collaborate with all parties to improve services for its users.

"With QRIS Tap, it will be easier for people to pay for tickets using public transportation, especially the Commuter Line," explained Asdo.

The addition of this alternative payment method reinforces LRT Jabodebek's commitment to supporting the national digital payment system and providing a more flexible, safe, and comfortable mobility experience for all users. Through QRIS Tap, LRT Jabodebek Executive Vice President, Mochamad Purnomosidi, hopes users will have a more flexible payment alternative to suit their individual preferences.

"With the introduction of QRIS Tap, we hope to expand our payment options and provide a more convenient and enjoyable travel experience for Jabodebek LRT users," said Purnomosidi.

In the initial phase, Bank Mandiri is offering a cashback promotion of up to 50 percent for QRIS Tap transactions using Livin' by Mandiri at KCI and the Jabodebek LRT. To facilitate public adaptation, several high-traffic stations are also equipped with Livin' signage as a visual guide to using this feature.

For additional information, by September 2025, the total frequency of QRIS Livin' transactions will reach 878 million with a value of IDR 123.5 trillion, a 103 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth. This achievement demonstrates the increasing use of contactless payments, providing room for strengthening the implementation of QRIS Tap in the retail, parking, and MSME sectors.

Jan explained that this performance forms the foundation for expanding Bank Mandiri's digital payment ecosystem.

"This growth demonstrates the public's need for more practical payment methods. We will continue to expand our collaboration so that QRIS Tap supports daily activities more comprehensively," he continued.

Through Livin' by Mandiri, users can access integrated digital financial services, from payments for mobility to lifestyle needs.

"Innovation in digital transaction processing is part of our commitment to providing secure, relevant, and future-oriented solutions. With consistent synergy, we want to ensure that all Bank Mandiri services provide added value to the community and strengthen the spirit of synergy to advance the nation," concluded Jan.
