Prabowo Inaugurates Kabanaran Bridge In DIY Connecting Kulonprogo-Batul
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the operation of the Kabanaran Bridge, Wednesday afternoon, November 19. The bridge connecting the transportation of the southern region of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Kulonprogo Regency, to be precise with Bantul Regency.
In his remarks, the Head of State stated that the location of this bridge has high historical value for the local community and contributes to tourism and economic development in the surrounding area.
"Earlier we heard the historical meaning of this place, Prince Mangkubumi's struggle against the Dutch based here," said the President, confiscated by Antara.
It is also hoped that the President can arouse the enthusiasm of tourism and the people's economy, especially the presence of tourists in Yogyakarta and its surroundings.
The operational inauguration procession of the bridge takes a point in the middle of the bridge, right above the Progo River. The inauguration ceremony was marked by the pressing of the siren button and the signing of the inscription by President Prabowo.
The Kabanaran Bridge, previously known as the Pandansimo Bridge, has a total bridge span of 2.3 kilometers built by the Ministry of Public Works since 2022 and completed in June 2025 with an investment value of IDR 863.72 billion.

This strategic infrastructure is located on the Jawa Cross-South Coast (Pansela) route, which is an important alternative in addition to existing infrastructure for the Pantura route.
Of the total target of 1,500 kilometers, about 1,300 kilometers of Pansela have been built, while the remaining 250 kilometers are still in the process of completion.
The presence of the Kabaran Bridge is projected to facilitate the flow of transportation, unravel congestion, as well as open up opportunities for economic growth in the southern region of Java.
In addition to superior structurally, the bridge is also designed with a touch of local wisdom through volcanic elements, a joglo house, and batik motifs that enrich its architectural value.
On the same occasion, the President also inaugurated four other infrastructure projects, namely the Gatot Subroto Underpass in Medan, Joglo Underpass in Surakarta, Cangguk Flyover in Magelang, and the Sambas Besar Bridge in West Kalimantan.
Especially for the Kabanaran Bridge, the new naming was agreed upon by the local government's proposal and has been consulted with Ngarso Dalem considering the historical value of the area.
This bridge also managed to record a national achievement by winning a MURI Record as the longest bridge in Yogyakarta made from corrugated steel.
All development funding comes from the central government through the state budget, after previously utilizing regional road cash before finally continuing with the APBN allocation of around Rp800 billion, up to a total cost of Rp863.72 billion.
Also present on the agenda were Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo and his staff, Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
