Construction Of MBG Kitchen In Banjar, West Java Completed, Minister Of Public Works: Expected To Be A National Reference
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has completed the construction of a prototype or model model of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) or the Free Nutrition Food Kitchen (MBG) in Banjar City, West Java.
During his visit to the area, PU Minister Dody Hanggodo wanted to ensure that the MBG kitchen built by the Ministry of Public Works had high quality standards, fast, hygienic, safe and fulfilling all regulations.
"We hope that the prototype kitchen in Banjar can be a national reference for the MBG kitchen," said Dody in an official statement quoted on Wednesday, November 19.
The prototype of the MBG Banjar kitchen was built measuring 20\times20 meters equipped with various facilities, such as stainless steel layered cooking area, special epoxy floor, fire resistance melting and humidity, biomedia IPAL system, security CCTV system, 30 kVa generators to APAR and other supporting facilities.
The planning of the kitchen's operational flow has been measured, starting from the entrance to raw materials, production areas, wet and dry materials storage to the food delivery area.
"We have arranged the flow in detail. This kitchen is designed so that the quality of the food produced is truly maintained, both in terms of taste, aroma and hygiene," he said.
The MBG kitchen was built since August 2025 on an area of 1,002.3 square meters with a building area of 400 square meters on land belonging to the Citanduy River Basin Center (BBWS) in Karangpanimbal Village, Purwaharja, Banjar.
All construction work has been completed 100 percent including building structure, architecture, MEP, professional kitchen utensils procurement and supporting facilities with a time of 60 days.

On this occasion, Dody also conveyed a number of technical directions regarding the MBG kitchen in Banjar, such as adding air circulation (filtration system) and exhaust so that the kitchen room remains safe from hot or cooking smoke, acceleration of administration and the halal certification process to ensure all MBG kitchens.
Then, follow the provisions of national food and true waste management, starting from the remaining cooking oil, organic materials to solid waste that are required to go through the processing system according to standards.
"Earlier it was said that it was built with a modular model to make development faster, with standardization of walls, floors to fire-resistant materials that ensure security," he explained.
He also advised that electricity reliability must also be maintained without being killed for a second, because the kitchen stores sensitive ingredients such as meat and fresh products at certain temperatures.
"If the electricity goes out and the temperature goes up, the quality of the material is immediately damaged. That's why this PU version of the kitchen requires higher standards," he added.
