Currently, the Ministry of Youth and Sports is simplifying 191 Ministerial Regulations from 2009 to five to 20 only. This was done because there were regulations that were no longer relevant.
Among these rules, there is Permenpora Number 14 of 2024 concerning the Standard Management of Sports Organizations Scope of Achievement Sports. This regulation had caused a polemic among national sports stakeholders.
"Mr. President has said that he wants the development of the nation's character for this young man to be very important, in addition to ensuring that sports must be the nation's ambassador which reflects empowerment," said Erick.
In addition, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will also create a derivative of a strategic program. One of them is the commitment to focus on 17 leading sports.
Erick said that a sports achievement certainly has a medal in the benchmark, but in a program for superior sports there must be differences between one person and another.
"For example, badminton, there are many athletes to the circuit system (match). If you swim, athletes are sent abroad for long-term national training."
"It's not certain that badminton and swimming get the same results as different financing structures," he said.
Erick further said that he wanted the construction of a sports athlete and academy coaching center to be able to give birth to a sustainable athlete level, starting from being superior to being an elite.
"This is not easy. Therefore, it is necessary to guard from an early age how our mindset becomes one unit. Of course we will align the program in the ministry as the spearhead, reflecting the character of young people in the future," said Erick.
Head of BPKP Muhammad Yusuf Ateh praised and appreciated Menpora Erick Thohir for the synergy outlined in the form of signing this memorandum of understanding.
"The point is what is needed, we are ready to support it. This is the beginning of building a commitment, we will help as much as possible so that the Minister's goals in building youth and sports can be realized properly," he said.
