Previously, the drainage bridge was damaged by contractors with heavy equipment on Monday, November 17. As a result, road access could not be passed due to the road connecting drainage bridge being dismantled by contractors demanding payment for their work.
For this matter, Pekanbaru Deputy Mayor Markarius Anwar immediately went to the location to meet the contractor on Monday night, November 17. He also came with the local sector police chief to remind contractors related to crime.
"Regarding debt, it is another matter. But this is related to destroying public facilities, the punishment is clear. This does not need a definite report to be followed up," said Wawako.
As a result, the contractor also promised to repair the road drainage that had been damaged. They immediately made repairs so that road access there could be passed normally by the community.
"To postpone the payment, Pekanbaru City Government will try to resolve it immediately. Regarding the delay in payment, of course there is a process. Damage to public facilities like this is not allowed, of course there are consequences," said Markarius.
