Vaccination And Herbal Drugs Become The Most Hoax Targets, HPV Immunization Is Also Attacked

JAKARTA - Health-related misinformation is currently still a big challenge. Data from the Ministry of Communication and Culture (Komdigi), noted that throughout 2024 more than 1,900 hoax content were found, with 163 of them related to health issues.

The most health hoaxes that appear are related to vaccination and herbal medicine. This condition is worrying and a challenge, because it can hinder various government efforts in preventing disease.

Not only that, this condition also further emphasizes the importance of a strong understanding of society in seeking accurate and health-based scientific evidence, in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

One of them is related to cervix cancer and preventive measures, such as HPV immunization, which is still often understood. In fact, HPV immunization is very important because it helps prevent cervical cancer or cervix cancer

"In an effort to reduce the incidence of cervical cancer in Indonesia, proper and accurate information dissemination has a crucial role," said Director of Immunization of the Ministry of Health, dr. Prima Yosephine, MKM, at the Rahim Neck Cancer Misinformation Cloud in the AI Era', Jakarta, on Monday, November 17, 2025.

"Education is right to help people understand that cervical cancer is a preventable disease, one of which is through HPV immunization," he added.

Consultant Child Specialist Grows Child Flower, Prof. Dr.dr Soedjatmiko, Sp.A(K), M.Si, emphasized that a correct understanding of the risk of HPV infection is an important foundation in prevention. Moreover, the HPV vaccine has been proven safe and useful since it was first used in 2006 and is now being used by more than 130 countries.

"So this is nothing new, not an experiment. This is a real step to protect yourself and your family," said Prof. Soedjatmiko.

To deal with the spread of hoax information about health, AI technology is now an important tool. The Katadata Insight Center survey noted that 64.7 percent of the public had used AI to seek information, and 70 percent of them trusted AI-generated content.

This condition shows that AI has great potential to help the spread of health information, but also demands responsibility in maintaining accuracy and empathy in public communication.

"The government continues to strive to strengthen a healthy and reliable public communication ecosystem, especially in the era of artificial intelligence-based information," said Deputy for Government Communication Development of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency, Noudhy Valdyrno.

Therefore, the government is committed to continuing to fight hoaxes collaboratively with media, academics, and strategic partners such as MSD Indonesia. This is so that digital space remains a safe place to share true and beneficial information for the community, especially related to health.

"Technology and AI provide great opportunities in the spread of health information, but the responsibility to maintain accuracy remains with all of us. In the context of cervical neck cancer, correct information helps the public understand the importance of prevention through HPV immunization," concluded Country Medical Lead MSD Indonesia, dr. Amrilmaen Badawi, MBiomedSc.
