Mbappe Vs PSG Enmity Continues, Raises Compensation Claims To IDR 5 Trillion
JAKARTA - The legal dispute between Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappe heated up on Monday, November 17, 2025, local time, with both parties filing enormous financial demands.
The French star striker and his former club clashed over alleged unpaid salaries. The financial dispute has been questioned by the local industrial court.
Mbappe, who did not attend the hearing, previously claimed he owed 55 million euros to the Champions League champions last season.
He is now demanding more than 260 million euros (around Rp5 trillion) from the club, arguing that PSG owes him because his fixed-term contract should be classified into a permanent contract.

Such a classification will trigger compensation for unfair dismissal, unpaid salaries, bonuses, and severance pay.
He also demanded compensation for moral harassment, unreported work, and violations of PSG's obligations for his good faith and safety.
"Kylian Mbappe does not demand anything outside the legal provisions. He only demands the enforcement of his legal rights, as any employee will do," the player's adviser said in a statement.
Meanwhile, PSG demanded a total of 440 million euros (approximately IDR 8.5 trillion) from the striker, including 180 million (approximately IDR 3.4 trillion) for the loss of the opportunity to complete its transfer since he left as a free agent after rejecting an offer of 300 million euros (approximately IDR 5.8 trillion) from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, in July 2023.
PSG said in a statement that they also demanded compensation for violations of good faith in the negotiations and implementation of the contract, as well as reputation and image damage.
The court's decision is expected to come out next month.
PSG argued that when Mbappe pulled over before the 2023/2024 season - following his decision not to extend the contract - there was an oral agreement stating that he chose to release the bonus in order to return to the team.
"In front of the court, the club has submitted evidence indicating that the player acted disloyally by hiding his decision not to extend the contract for nearly 11 months, between July 2022 and June 2023, thus eliminating the club's possibility of arranging the transfer."
"The player then sued for an agreement agreed with the club in August 2023, which regulates a salary reduction if he decides to leave on a free transfer, in order to maintain the club's financial stability after the extraordinary investments that have been made," PSG said in a statement.
The Mbappe camp replied that PSG never showed proof of an agreement to ignore the payment.
When accusing PSG of moral harassment, Mbappe criticized the 'lofting' he claimed had been experienced at the club.
The word 'lofting' is used in France to describe practices involving excluding players from the main squad for sports, administrative, or disciplinary reasons.
Mbappe was not happy with the treatment he received by the Ligue 1 club when he was marginalized before the 2023/2024 season, following his decision not to extend the club contract.
Mbappe joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2024 on a free transfer after setting a club record of 256 goals in seven years at PSG, which won the Champions League without him last season.
His relationship with PSG ended amid deep tensions as the club felt let down after offering him the most lucrative contract in club history when he signed a new contract in 2022.
Mbappe surprised PSG a year later by telling the club he would not take the option of a one-year extension. With his contract close to entering the last year, PSG was forced to release Mbappe so he wouldn't lose him for free when his contract expired.
After telling the club he would not renew his contract, Mbappe was not included in the pre-season tour to Japan and South Korea and was forced to train with reserve players.
PSG did not include Mbappe in the opening league game of the season, but he soon returned to the line-up after negotiations.
PSG has denied allegations of harassment or pressure, stating that Mbappe participated in more than 94 percent of the official 2023/2024 season matches.
The club further said that all decisions related to the team were made by coach Luis Enrique. The Spaniard, according to the club, always works in conditions that are in accordance with the Professional Football Charter.
