Rio Dewanto Rediscovers Past Trauma to Deepen His Role in The Legenda Kelam Malin Kundang

JAKARTA – Actor Rio Dewanto took a bold step to delve into his character as Alif in the latest thriller, "Legenda Kelam Malin Kundang".

For the role, which required him to portray an amnesiac, Rio had to delve back into and recall his past trauma.

"If I have to recall my childhood trauma, that's part of my job," said Rio Dewanto in South Jakarta on Monday, November 17.

Although this method is part of his total commitment as an actor, the husband of Atiqah Hasiholan chooses not to share details about his childhood experiences with the public. For him, it's a private matter not for public consumption.

"As for what my childhood trauma is, I'll keep it to myself," he continued firmly.

In this film, Rio Dewanto plays Alif, a micro-painter whose life seems perfect with his wife and son. However, a tragic accident robs him of his memories and forces him to start over.

Slowly, Alif begins to piece together the pieces of his lost memories. His family life, which initially seemed harmonious, begins to show oddities after his mother's arrival.

From here, the dark mysteries of Alif's past begin to be revealed one by one, often through the paintings he created as a child.

The Dark Legend of Malin Kundang is scheduled to be released in Indonesian cinemas starting November 27, 2025.

The film not only stars Rio Dewanto but also stars several other renowned actors and actresses, such as Faradina Mufti, Vonny Anggraini, and Nova Eliza, who are ready to present suspense and mystery to audiences.
