PSG-Lille Still Fighting For Ligue 1 Title Until Final

JAKARTA - Lille and Paris Saint-Germain will be fighting for the French League title when the 2020/21 season-final series is played on Monday morning.

Lille, who lead the standings with a one-point advantage over PSG, will travel to the Raymond-Kopa Stadium to face Angers and victory will ensure the title for Les Dogues.

Meanwhile, PSG also played an away game in the final week against Brest at the Francis-Le Ble Stadium. Victory was not entirely enough for PSG to retain the title, as in other matches Lille had to fail to get the full three points.

Mathematically, third-placed AS Monaco also still have a chance of becoming champions as they are only three points behind Lille and two points behind PSG.

However, Monaco, apart from having to win over RC Lens on a visit to the Felix Bollaert-Delelis Stadium, they also need Lille and PSG to lose, and should be able to chase a six-goal gap from Lille.

In addition to the title fight, the French League shortening week will also determine the Champions League slots, two Europa League slots, one Conference League slot as well as the determination of the teams that will follow the promotion-relegation phase.

Olympique Lyon, who host OGC Nice at the Groupama Stadium, will attempt to chase a one-point gap from Monaco to be able to play in the Champions League.

Marseille and Lens are still involved in the Europa League ticket scramble, while four teams including Strasbourg, Brest, Lorient and Nantes will struggle not to finish 18th or the promotion-relegation playoff zone.
