Minister Of Public Works Targets The Development Of 104 People's Schools By 2026

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said the government is targeting the construction of 104 public schools by 2026.

"The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Strategic Infrastructure targets the construction of 104 public schools for 2026," said Dody as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 17.

In addition, he continued, the Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure of the Ministry of Public Works also targets the rehabilitation of 1,000 madrasas units, as well as seven universities and religious universities.

Dody said the target was a tangible manifestation of support for the economy, education, worship, sports, socio-cultural and health.

"Although it is not as big as physical infrastructure expenditures such as roads or dams, this budget plays an important role in building social resilience and strengthening local economic nodes," he said.

Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo started the construction of Phase II People's Schools in 104 locations in order to build superior human resources.

The construction of the People's School, according to him, is a tangible form of the government's commitment to building superior human resources. The Ministry of Public Works wants to ensure that this educational facility is built quickly and with quality.

He said the Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to show its commitment to supporting improving the quality of human resources through the development of People's School (SR) infrastructure.

After completing the renovation of 165 Phase I Rintisan People's Schools, he continued, the Ministry of Public Works is now continuing the construction of Phase II People's Schools spread across 104 locations throughout Indonesia.

Phase II People's School construction work has entered the auction stage since September 2025.

This program is designed to accommodate up to 112,320 students with 3,744 study groups (rombels), covering 1,872 SD rombels (56,160 students), 936 junior high school rombels (28,080 students), and 936 high school rombels (28,080 students).

The Phase II People's School will be built permanently on an area of 510 hectares prepared by the local government, and is targeted for completion for the 2026/2027 school year.
