Janice Tjen Hopes Indonesian Tennis Athletes Get Concrete Support From The Government
JAKARTA - Tennis Merah-White, Janice Tjen, hopes that more Indonesian tennis athletes will receive concrete support from the Government after her inaugural meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir.
The tennis player ranked 53rd in the world hopes that the Government can increase support, especially in the provision of tennis training and equipment facilities.
"With Mr. Erick Thohir, it's just for introduction. Previously, we had never met and had never spoken, chatted like that, and yesterday it was just to chat."
"Hopefully in the future it can be more helpful and facilitate players, tennis tools too," said Janice.
Janice added that the Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) has compiled a number of athlete coaching programs.

"They have also compiled programs from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Hopefully these programs will be realized," said Janice.
As a professional athlete, Janice admits that most of the competition costs are still borne independently.
"Professional tennis players are still independent first. The government usually supports it through state events," said Janice.
Regarding the achievement target, Janice, who is on the list of athletes preparing for the 2025 SEA Games, emphasized that her focus is on achieving the best results in every tournament.
"Personal targets are always the best, definitely champions. For the SEA Games (2025), hopefully they can win gold medals," said Janice.
However, he confirmed that the meeting with Erick Thohir did not discuss the medal target specifically, especially at the 2025 SEA Games.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Youth and Sports ensured that the Ministry of Youth and Sports would continue to support athletes who have great potential like Janice to be able to appear at the Olympic level.
