Attacked By Allegations Of Fake Certificates, Constitutional Court Judge Arsul Sani Shows Original Documents To Graduation Photos
Constitutional judge Arsul Sani emphasized that he did not want prejudices regarding the alleged political intrigue behind reports of alleged fake diplomas sent by the Constitutional Observer Community Alliance to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.
"I can't suggest that this is from the 'Aswanto-kan' scenario, Mr. Arsul Sani. I can't make suggestions like that," Arsul said at a press conference at the Constitutional Court, Antara, Jakarta, Monday, November 17.
Arsul emphasized that position is a mandate that must have an end, so he does not feel the need to keep it desperately. He also chose to answer public accusations by showing his academic documents firsthand.
On this occasion, Arsul showed a doctoral diploma from the Collegiam Humanum Warsaw Management University, Poland, along with a transcript, a copy of the diploma that had been legalized by the Indonesian Embassy in Warsaw, as well as photos of the graduation procession which was also attended by the Indonesian Ambassador to Poland.
Arsul explained that he started a doctoral study in 2011 at Glasgow Caledonian University, England. However, his study was stopped because of his busy schedule as a member of the DPR. He then continued his studies in Warsaw in August 2020 and was declared to have graduated in June 2022 after maintaining his dissertation. He officially accepted the certificate at his graduation in March 2023.
The report against Arsul was filed on Friday (14/11) by the Alliance of Constitutional Observers, who suspected that there were irregularities related to the legality of the campus where Arsul won his doctorate.
In response to this, Arsul confirmed that there had been allegations of corruption on the campus about a year and a half after he graduated. The campus Chancellor was detained for allegedly bribing Polish Education Ministry officials regarding the MBA executive program permit.
However, Arsul admitted that he did not know the latest developments in the case. "If I just Googling the media, the language is Polish, I don't understand us either," he said.
