Constitutional Court Judge Arsul Sani Shows Original Certificate After Reported About Fake Certificates

Constitutional Justice Arsul Sani showed the original document of a doctoral diploma or strata three (S-3) to the public after being reported by the Alliance of Constitutional Observers to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency on suspicion of fake diplomas.

Arsul explained that he obtained a Doctorate of Laws (Doctor of Laws or LL.D) from the Collagium Humanum Warsaw Management University in Warsaw, Poland.

"I have to be fast, but this is this real certificate," said Arsul while showing his original diploma which was removed from a tube-shaped place as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 17.

Before showing the original diploma, Arsul asked the media crew not to take pictures of him. He was worried that it would be misused by irresponsible parties.

"Later it will be zoomed in (enlarged), later it will be edited, I'll be dizzy," he said with a smile.

In addition to the original diploma, Judge Arsul also showed copies or photocopies of diplomas that had been legalized by the Indonesian Embassy in Warsaw, transcripts, and photos of graduation in Warsaw attended by the Indonesian Ambassador to Poland at that time.

Arsul said he completed his S-3 study in June 2022 after maintaining a dissertation entitled "Re-examining the considerations of national security interests and human rights protection in counter-terrorism legal policy: a case study on Indonesia with focus on post Bali-bombings development".

Then, Arsul obtained his diploma directly during the graduation procession in Warsaw in March 2023.

"Of course, after finishing my graduation because I wanted to return to Indonesia in two days, I copied the diploma, instead I was assisted by a copy by the Indonesian Embassy and then I legalized it," he added.

Arsul said that he started his S-3 study in 2011 by registering on a professional doctoral program in the field of justice, policy and welfare studies at Glasgow School for Business and Society, Glasgow Caledonian University, England.

He has completed the first stage and received an academic transcript. Then, he began compiling a dissertation proposal along with his candidacy as a member of the DPR from the Central Java X Election Area in the 2014 Election.

Arsul was elected to the election and served as legislator for the 2014'2019 period. Because he was busy as a member of the DPR, Arsul spent his academic leave rights and ended up not completing his studies at the university in question.

Then, Arsul looked for a university that could receive a transfer of studies. This is because he has conducted a doctoral study halfway through Glasgow Caledonian University.

After seeking information and discussing with colleagues, Arsul obtained a recommendation from the Collagium Humanum Warsaw Management University.

He registered at the university after confirming the validity of the campus at the Ministry of Education's data center.

"I signed up, I remember if I saw my diarchive (archy) it was around early August 2020," he said.

In the process, he studied online in line with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"After then I took six months of college while thinking about what dissertation I wanted to write, finally in 2021 it started, yes, I decided to write, do research first, of course, about countering terrorism in Indonesia with a focus on legal policies for terrorism after the Bali bombing," said Arsul.

Arsul conducted research for dissertation which was written using the method of law research on the normativeness and empirical research through interviews of a number of figures and academics in Indonesia.

After that, Arsul managed to maintain his dissertation through a vice-voce. The dissertation was later recorded with the title "National Security and Human Rights Protection: Dialelectrics of Counterterrorism in Indonesia".

Arsul further said that all documents, including their educational background, both photocopies and natives, had been submitted during the selection of constitutional judges at Commission III of the DPR RI.

"I have also conveyed all of these files to the Court (Majelis, ed.) Honorary Constitutional Court, including several lecture or communication notes that I still have," he also said.

Previously, the Constitutional Observer Community Alliance reported Constitutional Justice Arsul Sani to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police on suspicion of a fake doctoral diploma on Friday (14/11).
