Reading The Opportunities And Challenges Of Indonesian Music, IMUST 2025 Is Ready To Be Held This Week

JAKARTA - Indonesia Music Summit (IMUST) 2025 is just counting days. The festival organized by Sashana Indonesia will last for two days at the Ali Sadikin Building and Wahyu Sihombing Theater Building, Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Central Jakarta, on November 19 and 20.

The forum, which is dedicated as a discussion space for all stakeholders of the Indonesian music ecosystem, presents in-depth discussions, exchange of ideas, and collaborative initiatives to formulate joint solutions and recommendations for the future of the national music industry.

Dhani 'Pette' Widjanarko as the Founder of Sashana Indonesia and Project Director of IMUST 2025 said that his party held this forum as an honest, inclusive, and equal meeting room for all music stakeholders.

"In the midst of a rapid ecosystem change, we need a place to pause, listen, then formulate joint steps," Dhani said in his statement, Monday, November 17.

"IMUST is our effort to build a healthier culture of discussion, which provides space for the voices of musicians, industry workers, and the creative community to really be heard," added Dhani.

As an event that combines cross-disciplinary creative dialogue, IMUST 2025 carries the spirit of collaboration between musicians, industrial workers, creators, art activists, educational institutions, communities, and business actors.

In addition, Harry Koko Santoso as a actor who has been in the Indonesian music industry for a long time, gave high appreciation for the holding of IMUST. He saw that this forum was designed to open a safe space for all participants in discussing the challenges of the music ecosystem as well as exploring opportunities in the growing digital era.

Indonesia's music industry is currently in an important phase. There are many new opportunities, but also a lot of confusion, especially for musicians and industry players on a small scale. A forum like Indonesia Music Summit is needed to equalize perspectives, understand real challenges on the ground, and look for breakthroughs together," said Harry. I hope IMUST can become a bridge that strengthens our music ecosystem from upstream to downstream.

Meanwhile, the main discussion session at IMUST will present influential figures in the Indonesian music industry today. The speakers will discuss strategic issues ranging from intellectual rights, digital distribution, the sustainability of independent musicians, to the role of technology in music production.

Those who will attend as speakers include Ariel NOAH, Piyu, Giring Ganesha, Once Mekel, Adi Adrian, Endah Widiastuti, Harry Koko Santoso, David Karto, Ravel Junardy, Anas Syahrul Alimi, Wendi Putranto, Ricky Bya, and Ferry Dermawan.

In addition to discussions, other activities that were also presented included exhibitions, workshop sessions, music performances, and the music market.

In the exhibition space, an exhibition of Indonesian musical works and documentation is presented which displays industrial transformation from time to time. Here you can see collections of archives, visual installations, to experimental works.

Then at the workshop session, professionals were presented to share the best techniques, experience, and practices in making music videos and music photography.

Meanwhile, the music stage will feature a Village House Effect: 10 Years of Cinema Albums, and the music market will present exclusive physical releases and merchandise that can be purchased.

With all the activities presented, Dhani hopes that IMUST 2025 will be able to become a driving force for collaboration for music industry players, strengthen networks, and create new ideas to build a healthier, more sustainable, and adaptive Indonesian music ecosystem for the times.

"Sanhana believes music is a cultural space that is always alive and through four-dimensional discussions and equal collaboration, Indonesia can present a more progressive music ecosystem for the future," concluded Dhani.
