SAR Evacuation 2 Victims Died Due To Banjarnegara Landslides
BANJARNEGARA - Joint SAR officers evacuated two victims who died due to landslides in Pandanarum Village, Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java, which occurred on Sunday (16/11) afternoon.
"While two victims have been found dead," said Head of the Semarang SAR Office Budiono as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 17.
He said the first victim was found on Sunday (16/11) afternoon, after the incident.
He said the victim was initially found injured and had received treatment.
The victim, he said, was reported dead on Monday morning. Another victim was found on Monday morning.
The joint SAR team is still searching for other victims at the landslide location.
In addition, he said, officers evacuated residents who had saved themselves in hills around the location.
Officers are still opening the access road to the village which was also hit by landslide material.
This condition, he said, resulted in access to heavy equipment to the location being difficult to pass.
"The condition of the terrain is quite difficult because the landslide material is thick and the weather is still unstable," he said.
Officers are also still monitoring the conditions around the location to anticipate further landslides.
Landslides hit Pandanarum Village, allegedly triggered by high rainfall that flushed the hilly area for several hours.
