JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto paid a visit to several classes at SMP Negeri 4 Bekasi City, West Java, today to see firsthand the use of interactive flat panels (IFP) or smartboards.
Prabowo, who was accompanied by the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti, visited one of the VIX classrooms that was conducting learning about acidic substances.
Quoted from the live broadcast via the YouTube channel @SecretariatPresiden, it can be seen that President Prabowo sits between the students and witnessed firsthand the use of IFP to provide a clearer and more real understanding of the lessons.
Class XIV students and teachers did not look awkward even though they were witnessed by the President. Some students were also asked by the teacher to provide explanations regarding the themes discussed in front of the classroom.
Salah-student tersebut berhasil menyelesaikan tugasnya, Presiden bersama Mendikdasmen turut memberikan apresiasi berupa papan solid, seperti yang dilakukan oleh para siswa dan guru di kelas tersebut.
The president then turned to the next class, which also used IFP. As in the previous class, the President also sat between students and listened to teachers demonstrating the use of IFP to explain the lunar cycle.
With the screen already digital, these students seem to understand more easily because the image is more lively.
After listening to the explanation, the President took the time to talk with the teachers in the classroom and greet students one by one in the class. The President also practiced a boxing style, when one of the students said that his favorite sport was boxing.
President Prabowo's working visit to SMP Negeri 4 Bekasi City, as well as to launch the use of interactive flat panels (IFP) or smartboards for schools in Indonesia.
A number of Ministers of the Red and White Cabinet who attended this visit were Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Head of the Government Communications Agency Angga Raka Prabowo, and Governor of West Java Dedy Mulyadi.
The smartboard features virtual distance learning, by presenting a teacher who can interact directly with his students to guide the learning process.
This interactive technology is designed to provide a more collaborative and interesting learning experience, different from smart televisions that only present one-way material.
The launch of interactive flat panels (IFP) or smartboards in schools, is in line with Presidential Instruction Number 7 of 2025 concerning the revitalization of education units, the development of superior schools, to the acceleration of learning digitization.
The government targets that each class will have a smartboard as a standard facility. This year, around 288,000 IFP units are scheduled to be sent to 330 thousand schools in all regions in Indonesia.
