JAKARTA - The manager of the Ragunan Wildlife Park (TMR), South Jakarta, emphasized that the provision of animal feed has been carried out as needed, including aspects of health to daily care.
"We emphasize that the entire process of providing and providing feed at TMR has met quality standards, quantities, schedules for giving, and methods that are in accordance with the needs of animal species," said Head of Public Relations of TMR Wahyudi Bambang, when contacted in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, November 17.
The statement was made in response to a viral upload on social media X which accused the alleged corruption of animal feed at TMR.
Wahyudi emphasized that the information circulating was not true and did not reflect the factual conditions on the ground.
He explained that each stage, starting from the procurement of feed materials, the preparation process, to animal consumption feed, is under the supervision of curators, veterinarians, nutritionists, feed managers, and animal nurses.
"This layered supervision ensures that animal nutritional intake is always safe, precise, and consistent every day," said Wahyudi.
He added that TMR always carries out animal care standards, animal health, and facility management according to the provisions of conservation institutions. One indicator of this success can be seen from the large number of animals that live a healthy life that exceeds the average age of their life in the wild.
In addition, TMR is also actively carrying out controlled animal breeding programs as part of conservation contributions, including giraffes, anoa, and a number of other animals.
"All these successes are in line with the application of the principle of Five Freedoms Animal Welfare, which is free from hunger and thirst, free from discomfort, free from pain, injury, and disease, free to express natural behavior, and free from fear and depression," said Wahyudi.
