MG4 Anxin Edition, The First Model To Use Semi Solid State Battery

SAIC will introduce MG4 Anxin Edition at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 21, making it one of the first mass-produced passenger cars equipped with a semi solid state battery.

Based on a report from Carnewschina, quoted Monday, November 17, the model uses manganese-based lithium-ion batteries jointly developed by SAIC and QingTao Energy, with a range of 530 km in CLTC counts.

The MG4 Anxin Edition has not been launched in its final production form, but regulatory documents show that its exterior design is in line with the existing MG4 lineup. This car maintains a very sporty hatchback profile.

The dimensions remain the same, namely 4,395 mm long, 1,842 mm wide, and 1,551 mm high, with an axis distance of 2,750 mm. The back is still equipped with a wide lamp full of arrows-shaped positional lights.

In the interior, the model uses an updated MG4 interior design. The center screen expands from 12.3 inches to 15.6 inches, the under-screen mechanical button is removed, and the rotary gear displacement controller is replaced with the selector installed in the steering column.

The 50 watt wireless charging pillow is added to the bottom console. The car is also equipped with an MGoppo intelligent cockpit system, powered by the Snapdragon 8155 chip.

The battery capacity remains 53.95 kWh, identical to the 530 km LFP variant. However, the semi-solid-state package increased its bare weight to 1,500 kg, about 15 kilograms heavier than the standard model.

Regarding mechanical issues, this model is equipped with a single front motorbike yielding 120 kW of power and 250 Nm of torque, with a claim of acceleration time of 050 km/h in 3 seconds.
